Oh no! It's been like a year since I last updated this blog. And the worst part of it, when I said that this site was underconstruction? I never really had time to fix it. So here goes. I'm back, here in my 'shrillest highs and lowest lows' world.
So, what's up? This year was a total blast. Just to update myself, I left my previous work, OP Communications eight months ago, where I usually sleep from the time that I reach my workplace, then wake up at around 8am to have breakfast in BOI. It's the building before Saville in Buendia from the Edsa MRT side.
Okay, fine, I'll tell you what's my 'A Day in the Life' when I was still in OP Comm.
I leave the house at around 6:30 a.m. without applying moisturizer, make-up or whatsoever on my face. I think, an artificial sunscreen will do. To hide all my hinanaings. Here are my options on how to get to Makati:
a. I ride with my parents then my dad drops me off near Boni station after my mom - MRT to Buendia - 20 minute walk to Paseo de Roxas where I pass by this call center tarpaulins with some testimonials from employees, Jaguar showroom, AVON window display (with a wrong spelling 'exudes conficence' caption), HP Service center (it's still closed, I think it opens at 9am)
b. I ride the shuttle from Vista Verde (our village) to Jupiter (back of our Saville building)
So there. I alternate them so it won't be a routinary thing.
Then I log-in from the logbook, open my Emac, then itunes, listen to my rainy day playlist and sleep. Then my colleague Rizza comes in and opens the electric fan (no. 3), then my sleeping time is ruined.
We sometimes have our breakfast in BOI, Manong Pedro (parking sari-sari store slash carinderia), Makati ave. (sort of our highlight of the week breakfast). We have it delivered also from McDonalds or Jollibee,
Then we go back, wait for a concept meeting, briefing, rush printing for presentation as we wait for Angelus where we take turns on leading the prayer.
10a.m. - hunger strikes. We go to Manong Pedro again or sometimes eat Rizza's Fita, my URC products and Sugar's pandesal slash pandecoco slash I-don't-know-where-she-got-those-food.
12 noon - We form our line for the free lunch, eat really fast, then hang-out downstairs (ground floor stairs) to kill time. We sometimes overhear the guard's AM station- late lunch- radionovelas. So eighties. So Connie Reyes on Camera.
1pm - We just feel so sleepy and lazy as a crocodile. We play some music, plug in our earphones, do some work, kill time, surf the net, hide those meebo, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
3:30pm - Sometimes it's a pandesal day, sometimes it's a Yellow Cab day, sometimes, wait, I like this one, we go to the rooftop with our food from Manong Pedro as we watch the whole Makati before the sun sets.
6pm - Shut down mode. But we still have work to do. Either we have to OT or a costume party.
8 something onwards. I go home. Really tired. I sometimes:
- walk with Rizza / Kuya Win to Buendia station and listen to his stereotypical love advice
- ride with Sugar and Manong Kenny Rogers to Buendia station
- ride a jeep to Glorieta to get to Allied Bank in Ayala, tulala mode, then shuttle again to Vista Verde.
Onwards of onwards - I don't have time anymore. I just feel so tired, sleepy, and wanting to be tulala forever. You know why? Well of course, I had sunscreen, why should I tell you?

Sunday Morning Call
You know that feeling you get on Sunday where
you just had the whole day to yourself, & it`s been great,
& then you remember that you
have to go to school the next day, & it just ruins the rest of
the night? I have to go home tomorrow & I`ve got that
feeling, just like it`s Sunday night..
-» Peyton // One Tree Hill
Well for me it's just another Sunday Morning call. It's not about school, but work, work and work. But I also hate being in school. Those fake plastic professors who used to treat you like you're not paying them suddenly treats you like a national artist after 7 months from graduation.
Everything was a nostalgia when I passed by Nagtahan, M. Dela Fuente and Dapitan just minutes before our boss' speech for the Advertising graduating students last Friday. Suddenly, I miss my dorm, apartment and condo. I miss the street foods and those sinegang na baboy (fart-smell) smell of the sidewalks.
I suddenly miss the ignorance to the real world.

Long-stemmed but with few petals to talk about
Morning sickness sucks -
Define morning sickness. It is the equivalent of lining up in front of our village for the next shuttle to hit the roads of Rosario, Ortigas, Edsa and Makati just to reach my work cage as early as 6:15 in the morning.
Then you arrive at exactly 8:20 a.m.
Hayyy, the only thing that made me feel really better today was when I dropped by Kat and Bev's event in Makati Shang this evening. I missed those 2 "Tatu"s haha! And their boss gave me a long- stemmed rose. Their boss is really nice (BTW, it was a product launching of Unilever - my dream client someday hehe). I also saw JC and Nolan, their job was to draw on the spot portraits of the beautiful guests - for only 10 minutes - beat that. Hayyy...that's what I really want to do...I miss the people.
the total execution of it.
After that, I remembered Jhong's google chat message to me this afternoon (I don't know why he sent it):
A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying. - Dr. Meredith Grey
Maybe that's why I'm still here, if you know what I mean.

10 Ways NOT to Get Ahead
from work.
I got this funny article from Kevin Liles of YRB Magazine. Now here goes your checklist.
1. Consistently show up late for work. - Because you are not a morning person? Think again.
2. Walk into the office like you own the place. - It happens.
3. Handle personal business at work. - Thanks to my sun, I don't even know how to use our office phones...hahaha. I hardly even use it at home!
4. Do only the bare minimum. - The "they don't pay me for that" attitude.
5. Never share the credit. - As the cliche goes for the crab freaks.
6. Send out inappropriate messages using company email.
7. Never take responsibility.
8. Arrive at a company meeting unprepared to take notes. - a pen and gum will do.
9. Arrive to work high on illegal substances. - says who?
10. Be condescending and disrespectful.
Whew! I talk really old!

When we reach 22, everything is just a snap.
[FinalIy, a new blog to type all my hinanaings. I used to have a blog (http://pedxingbox.blogdrive.com), a blog where design is all that matters...I just kept changing and changing my layout. Now I need a new outlet for all my thoughts, away from the 12/5 or sometimes 12/6 designing world. Hopefully, I'll have time to fix my blog layout...]
I hope you're still familiar with this late 90's song,
the time when I never imagined myself searching for its lyrics.
My fellow designers Sugar and Rizza loop this song a lot while at work and woooww - tagos talaga...this is a good blog opener after a year of hiding my thoughts because of our thesis.
Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) - Baz Luhrmann
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
If I could offer you only one tip for the future,
sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering experience…
I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind;
you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….
You’re not as fat as you imagine. Don’t worry about the future;
or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an
algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life
are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that
blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday. Do one thing everyday that
scares you Sing Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up
with people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead,
sometimes you’re behind…
the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults;
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…
the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted
to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children,
maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40,
maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…
what ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either –
your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it,
or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own.. Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future. Understand that friends
come and go,but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because
the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard;
live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander,
you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out. Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40,
it will look 85. Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those
who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing
the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and
recycling it for more than it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen…
